Hunger is a very real issue in Greene County.
Since 2007, the Greene County Food Pantry has worked to alleviate hunger by providing nutritious food to individuals and families in need. Today, the Pantry serves over 600 families each month, distributing an average of 40 to 50 pounds of food per family. More than 2 million pounds of food have been distributed over the past six years, with more than 60% of those served being seniors or children.
But a few years ago, far fewer people knew just how much was happening behind the scenes.
The Pantry had dedicated staff, an army of volunteers, generous donors, and a tremendous need to meet. What they didn’t have was a consistent marketing strategy to connect that great work with the community.
That’s where Greer Force Marketing came in.
Our work with the Greene County Food Pantry started with a simple question:
How do we help more people understand the impact this organization is already making and encourage them to get involved?
We created a new, branded website that made the Pantry’s resources, services, donation and volunteer opportunities, and forms easier to find and use. We brought their story to local media, highlighting the people, partnerships, milestones, and community support behind the mission.
When the Pantry moved into a new facility, we helped introduce that next chapter to the community and communicate what the additional space would make possible. The result? Greater capacity to serve even more families safely and consistently.
We also introduced a monthly newsletter, and there’s a funny story behind that.
During one of our early meetings, we suggested sending a newsletter every month. One of the Pantry’s representatives questioned whether they would really have enough news to fill it.
Today, she laughs at that question.
Because it turns out, there is no shortage of good news when you’re making a difference every single day.
When GFM began working with the Pantry, they didn’t have a social media presence. Today, they’re sharing their story across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and LinkedIn, giving the community an ongoing look at the people, partnerships, volunteers, events, and impact behind the organization.
And the results are encouraging.
The Pantry set a goal of adding 100 new families to its monthly food distribution in 2026, and as of July, 197 have been added, with a forecast of 250+ new families by the end of 2026! These increases are anticipated to meet about 45-50% of the need in Greene County.
We don’t claim that marketing alone created that growth. It didn’t.
The Pantry has a deeply committed staff, incredible volunteers, generous donors, and community partners who make the work possible every day.
We believe good marketing doesn’t manufacture impact. It shines a light on the impact that already exists.
Greene County Food Pantry has come a long way, but the need hasn’t gone away. Approximately 30% of Greene County residents live at or below the poverty line, meaning there are still families, children, and seniors who need help putting food on the table.
So we’ll keep telling the story, communicating the need, celebrating the impact, and encouraging more people to donate, volunteer, host food drives, and get involved.
Because organizations like the Greene County Food Pantry don’t need us to make their work meaningful.
And that’s marketing with a purpose.
It’s work we’re proud to be a part of.
