Client Spotlight: Genuine Georgia

Since 2005, Genuine Georgia, located in the heart of Downtown Greensboro, Georgia, has been a beloved artisan marketplace. Offering original gifts and one-of-a-kind artwork handcrafted exclusively by Georgia artists. For more than two decades, the shop has served as a curated destination where visitors can discover the work of over 100 talented artists. Step inside, and you’ll immediately experience a space filled with creativity, community, and a genuine appreciation for Georgia-made art.

Our partnership with owner Cynthia Smith began in 2018, long before the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, Genuine Georgia had virtually no online presence. Cynthia had built a remarkable in-store experience, but there was an opportunity to expand her reach beyond the shop’s walls.

Greer Force Marketing began by creating a beautiful, functional WordPress website that captured the heart and personality of Genuine Georgia. We helped tell the stories of the talented artisans whose work fills the store, developing artist profiles and bios that showcase the people behind the pieces. We also supported the promotion of local events and activities in Downtown Greensboro, helping strengthen Genuine Georgia’s connection to the community it serves.

For two years, we worked alongside Cynthia as a trusted marketing partner. Then, in March 2020, the world suddenly changed.

As COVID-19 shutdowns swept across the country, small businesses faced unprecedented uncertainty. Cynthia was presented with two options: close her doors and wait out the storm, or pivot and go entirely online with Genuine Georgia.

Together, we chose to pivot.

Leveraging the digital foundation already in place, we quickly shifted our focus to online sales and customer engagement. We launched email marketing campaigns featuring artwork and gifts, highlighted individual artists and their creations. We even established a consistent social media presence that kept customers connected to the store even when they couldn’t visit in person.

Those efforts made a significant difference. Through online sales and ongoing customer engagement, Genuine Georgia generated enough revenue to help navigate the shutdown and continue supporting the artists who depended on the store.

What has been even more rewarding is what happened next.

The online strategies developed during the pandemic didn’t disappear when the doors reopened. Instead, they became a permanent extension of the Genuine Georgia brand. Today, Genuine Georgia’s thriving storefront experience is complemented by a strong digital presence that continues to attract customers, promote artists, and drive sales.

What began as a website project in 2018 evolved into a long-term partnership built on trust, adaptability, and shared commitment. Genuine Georgia stands today as a shining example of how thoughtful marketing can help preserve a local legacy while creating new opportunities for growth.

We are honored to continue supporting Cynthia and her mission of celebrating Georgia artists. While keeping creativity flourishing in the heart of Downtown Greensboro.
